Eco-Friendly Barrel Caves and Chateau Construction
Built to barrel age wine, previously done in the Chateau's cellar, this extensive tunnel system covers 25,000 square feet of area and provides ample room for 4,000 barrels.
Its greatest eco-benefit is the naturally constant 61°F
temperature, eliminating the need for costly and power hungry
refrigeration. The caves also maintain near optimal humidity,
reducing evaporative wine losses from the barrels. The Chateau
itself is also partially underground, dug into the hillside,
helping to maintain a consistently cool temperature much like the
caves.
