1973 Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon

This is our first “Chateau” Cabernet Sauvignon, of which we are very proud and excited. The 1973 vintage was a sterling Cabernet vintage, from which we produced a big, rich, mouth filling wine. In order to develop further complexities through mellowing, an extended aging period of two years in French (Never) and American Oak barrels was necessary.

vintage weather

Cool variable. Normal winter, warm spring. Long, cool growing season. Record crop. Excellent maturity. Clean fruit.

tasting notes

The resulting '73 Cabernet is a skillful balance between power and elegance. An extended cellar life of up to ten (10) years is probable, yet the pronounced but soft tannins will provide for early enjoyment. A classic!
